The School Day

The School Day

School starts at 8:50am and finishes at 3:20pm. Students are expected to be on site by 8:45am so that they are in their form rooms for 8:50am for the register to be taken.

The structure of the day is as follows:

8:50am - 9:05am           Registration and Form Time/Assembly

9:05am - 10:05am         Period 1

10:05am - 11:05am       Period 2

11:05am - 11:20am       Break

11:20am - 12:20pm       Period 3

12:20pm - 1:15pm         Lunch

1:15pm - 2:20pm           Period 4 (including afternoon registration)

2:20pm - 3:20pm           Period 5

School buses will depart from the site at 3:30pm each day.

Form Time

Students will spend the first 15 minutes of each day with their form group. During this time the morning register will be taken and any announcements or letters will be given out. The remainder of the time is used for collective worship. Students will ordinarily attend an assembly at least once a week. This could be a year group assembly or a house assembly and will usually focus on the collective worship theme of the week. Additional assemblies may also be organised to present year group specific information (e.g. arrangements for Year 11 revision or Year 9 option choices).

Lessons

Students in the main school will have five lessons each day. There are three in the morning and two in the afternoon. Lessons are an hour long with an additional five minutes at the start of period 4 to allow the teacher to take the afternoon register. Students in the Sixth Form will have fewer lessons on their timetable. The gaps will be filled with independent study periods.

Lunch Time

Lunch time lasts for 55 minutes. A rota is in place so that year groups are staggered going into the Dining Hall. There are a number of clubs and activities taking place at lunch time for students to join. Space is available outside for students to play ball games with different areas designated for different year groups.
