GCSE Options Information

GCSE Courses

Students at Hutton are required to study the following subjects at GCSE Level:

English Language

English Literature

Mathematics

Science

ICT

Religious Studies

All students will also continue to participate in Physical Education during Years 10 and 11.

In addition to these subjects, students choose four options. The process of choosing options is carried out in the Spring Term when students are in Year 9.

Students who are considered as having a good aptitude for Modern Foreign Languages are expected to study either French of German as one of their options. Students who this applies to in the current Year 9 cohort will also be expected to choose either Geography or History as one of their options to give them the opportunity to achieve GCSE qualifications in English Baccalaureate subjects. Any student can opt to study these subjects if they wish.
