Introduction to Key Stage 3 Geography

Geography is a dynamic and relevant subject that incorporates many different skills and learning activities. It deals with topical issues as well as traditional topics.

Year 8

  • European Union and the UK
  • Population and migration
  • Tundra
  • Caves
  • Tropical Rainforests
  • Coral Reefs
  • Deserts
  • Mediterranean

Year 9

  • Climate Change
  • Development and Resources
  • Tectonics
  • Flooding and Tsunamis
  • Cyclones
  • Tornadoes

Each year group will also study a topical country that has been in the news.

How students will be assessed

Students will have a test at the end of each unit of work to assess their knowledge and progress.

Extra-curricular activities and educational visits

Students can take part in the Worldwise Quiz, a national competition.

We will also be running an Environmental Club. Meeting times and days will be confirmed in September.
