Angus Brown and Joe Winter won the 2015/16 Hutton Debating Championship in a strong performance against David Tipping and Raichel Marshall. Their relentless attacks constantly put Raichel and David on the defensive throughout the debate on whether gender quotas in the workplace should be implemented. Our new Headteacher, Mark Bradshaw, presented the trophy to Joe and Angus who also each win a book of their choice from an educational publisher's website.
We've had many lively debates during the year and I'd like to thank everyone who has attended a debate, but extra thanks go to all those pairs of students who were prepared to invest their free time researching and preparing before they stood up and argued in front of a critical audience.
We'll be debating again in September - all students in Year 11 and the Sixth Form are warmly invited to take part. Finally, we look forward to the National Finals of Debating Matters in London from 1st to 3rd July and hope we can improve on last year's performance by coming home with the winner's trophy.
