School Nurse - Drop In Service

The School Nurses work all year round and are based at Penwortham St Mary's Health Centre, Cop Lane, Penwortham.

The role of the school nurse is to monitor young peoples' health and promote healthy lifestyles. We provide a variety of services such as health promotion, developmental screening, undertaking health interviews and administering the immunisation programme.

The School Health Team also runs a weekly drop in clinic. This is held on a Friday lunchtime between 12:30pm and 1:15pm in the interview room in the reception area. This is a confidential service available to all young people. Although this service is confidential, there may be times when the School Nurse needs to break confidentiality (for example, if a nurse thinks the young person may be at risk from significant harm).
