Year 7 Admissions

September 2027 Admissions

Consultation on our proposed changes to our admissions.

Hutton Church of England Grammar School and Sixth Form is launching a consultation period to change our admissions number from 149 to 128. This affects the admissions policy for the 2027-2028 intake onwards. A six week consultation period from 10th December 2025 to 21st January 2026 has commenced.

The proposed changes aim to secure the future of Hutton as the demographic changes within the area.

This consultation is in line with the requirements of the codes and relevant admissions legislation, which at the date of this Agreement is section 89 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 as amended, and Regulations under that section, Academy Trust Determination of Admission Arrangements.

If you would like to submit a comment, please email:

admissions@huttongrammar.co.uk and include the subject line of ‘Admissions Consultation’.

All responses received will be considered by the Governing Body once the consultation has closed on 21st January.

The proposed policy is available to view and download below.

Applying for a school place

Parents should have applied for their child's place at secondary school via the Lancashire County Council's website. Applications for September 2026 opened on 1st September 2025, with a closing deadline of 31st October 2025. Parents will find out which school their child has been allocated on Monday 2nd March 2026.

School places are not allocated on a first come first serve basis. All applications received before the application deadline are given equal priority.

If you have missed the deadline, please complete the application as soon as possible. Applications received on time will be prioritised and a late application may reduce your chance of getting your preference of school.

Supplementary Information

As a voluntary‑aided Church School, applicants may complete a supplementary form. Parents wishing their application to be considered against the following criteria: living in the local area, sibling in school, special social/medical needs and parent faith commitment, will need to submit a supplementary form directly to the school by 31st October 2025.

Appeals

The school's admission appeals are supported by Lancashire County Council. If the Governing Body cannot offer a school place, parents have the right to appeal.

This appeal should be submitted here - Appeal for a school place - Lancashire County Council. The link can also be used for advice and guidance for making an appeal.

All correspondence relating to admissions, including supplementary forms can be emailed to admissions@huttongrammar.co.uk
