Cross Country Success
Hutton Grammar School students produced a series of outstanding performances at the Lancashire Schools Cross Country Championships, held on Saturday 31 January at Witton Park, Blackburn, competing against the very best runners from one of the largest and most competitive counties in the country.
The standout performance of the day came from Gabriel S, who finished an exceptional 7th place in the Junior Boys’ race. This remarkable result will see Gabriel selected to represent Lancashire at the English Schools Cross Country Championships, to be held later this year at Sefton Park. Selection at county level is a significant honour, particularly within a county as large and competitive as Lancashire, and is a true testament to Gabriel’s commitment, discipline and hard work.
It was double success in the Junior Boys’ race, with Huw C finishing an excellent 19th place. Their combined efforts helped secure victory for the South Ribble team, who were crowned county champions in that age category - an outstanding achievement.
There was further success earlier in the day in the Year 7 race, where Louie B ran superbly to finish 8th place, an exceptional result in a highly competitive field. Completing a strong day for Hutton, Tom B produced a determined run in the Senior Boys’ race, finishing an impressive 12th place.
With Lancashire being one of the strongest counties represented at the English Schools Championships, for a Hutton Grammar School student to earn selection at this level is a real privilege. We are incredibly proud of all our runners who represented the school with such determination and sportsmanship.
Congratulations to Gabriel on his county selection. We wish him the very best as he prepares to represent Lancashire at the English Schools Cross Country Championships later this year.
