Teacher of English

MPS/UPS
Required from 1st September 2019

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic teacher of English to join our Church of England 11-18 comprehensive school, judged ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted in May 2017 and ‘Outstanding’ by SIAMS in February 2018.

The department has a strong track record of success in motivating students to achieve their best and we are looking for a teacher who can use their knowledge and experience to inspire and encourage our students.
The English Department at Hutton currently consists of 8 members of staff and consistently produces outstanding results. In May of 2017 Ofsted noted that ‘Pupils make outstanding progress in English... This is a result of strong teaching, effective assessment and interventions’.

The English Department currently follow the EDUQAS specification at GCSE and the AQA specifications at A Level; subjects within the department studied at A Level are English Literature and English Combined, both of which are popular choices with students. The department also plays a full and very active role in the school’s commitment to providing a large variety of enrichment opportunities for students across the 11-18 range.

Our success can be credited to our hard-working students, supportive parents and committed and dedicated staff both within the English Department and school as a whole.

The successful candidate will teach at Key Stage 3 and GCSE level initially, with the possibility to take on A Level classes in future years. The successful candidate may also teach Key Stage 3 Drama so experience of this would be an advantage but is not an essential requirement.

Hutton has a long tradition of success, a strong reputation, and is regularly oversubscribed.

For more details or to apply, please contact Mrs H Beresford (Head Teacher’s PA) on 01772 613112 or e-mail head@huttongrammar.org.

Application forms can be downloaded below. All completed application forms should be accompanied by a letter, no longer than two sides A4 in length, outlining a candidate’s suitability for the post.

The school is committed to safeguarding children and young people. All post-holders are subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.

Closing Date: Friday 17th May at 12:00noon

Interviews: Week commencing Monday 20th May 2019
