Teaching Assistants

Various posts at Grade 4 - SCP4-6  (£18426 -£19171 pro rata)

We are looking to appoint a three new colleagues to join our SEND team. Teaching Assistants play a vital role in supporting the educational, personal and social development of students at the school and the successful candidates will work under the direction of the SENCO to support a variety of in class and extra-curricular activities.

Candidates will have a minimum of grade C in GCSE English Language and Mathematics (or equivalent). Experience of working in a school environment and supporting SEND students would be an advantage. The following posts are available:

Post 1 - Teaching Assistant 2a – 25 hours a week – permanent variable hours contract

This post holder will work to provide support in the classroom across all curriculum subjects and for extra-curricular activities. This is a permanent variable hours contract with a minimum of 15 hours a week. The hours for 2019-20 are 25 hours a week Monday- Friday during term time only. The exact hours will be agreed with the successful candidate on appointment. Hours will be reviewed annually according to the needs of the school.

Post 2 – Teaching Assistant 2a – 25-30 hours a week – fixed term until 31st March 2020

This post is specifically focused on supporting transition and settling in for SEND students in the new Year 7 cohort. This will involve support in the classroom and for extra-curricular activities. This is a fixed term contract until 31st March 2020 in the first instance as it is dependent on the amount of funding the school receives. The hours are also dependent on funding and will be between 25 and 30 hours a week Monday- Friday during term time only.

Post 3 – Teaching Assistant 2a – 15 hours a week – fixed term until 31st March 2020

This post holder will work to provide support in the classroom across all curriculum subjects and for extra-curricular activities. This is a fixed term contract until 31st March 2020 in the first instance as it is dependent on the amount of funding the school receives. The hours of work will be 3 hours a day Monday – Friday during term time only. The exact times will be agreed with the successful candidate on appointment once the timetable for 2019-20 has been finalised.

The salary quoted above will be reduced to reflect the part time, part year nature of the roles. The point at which the post-holders will be paid is dependent on their experience. The Preston Teaching School Alliance School Direct training programme provides graduates with a direct route into teaching. The Preston Alliance, working in partnership with the University of Cumbria, consists of a variety of primary, secondary and special schools with a proven track record of providing outstanding teacher training. You will be trained by outstanding teachers within the alliance and receive specialist input from University of Cumbria staff leading to the award of Postgraduate Certificate of Education with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
