Science Department Teaching Assistant (Level 2b)

Grade 5 (SCP 6-11) 25 hours a week (term time only)

Required as soon as possible

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and hard-working Teaching Assistant to work with our successful Science Department to support a wide range of students. The role will involve delivering intervention and support to individuals and small groups of students at Key Stage 3 and 4; assisting teachers with planning and resources; supporting students with a wide range of SEND issues in the classroom and beyond; and playing an active role in the extra-curricular life of the department.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team with a range of staff and students of various ages, abilities and needs. A background or qualifications in science subjects would be an advantage but is not an essential requirement.

The post-holder will work 25 hours a week Monday - Friday during term time only. There will also be an additional 1.5 hours a week at TA 2a level as part of the role. The salary stated above will be reduced to reflect the part-time, part-year nature of the position. This is a permanent variable hours contract with a guaranteed minimum of 15 hours a week. The number of hours worked will be reviewed each year according to the needs of the school.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a love of Science to experience working in a classroom setting with young people. This is a varied and valued role which provides in-house training and great professional development opportunities within an outstanding and supportive department.

The school is committed to the safeguarding and well-being of all young people and expects all employees to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to Enhanced DBS clearance.
