EAL SEND Support Worker (Teaching Assistant Level 3)

Grade 6 SCP 11-19 (£25,979 - £29,777 pro rata)

35 hours a week (8:30am - 4:00pm) - Term time plus INSET days

Required from: 1st September 2024

Hutton Church of England Grammar School is looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic EAL/SEND Support Worker to join our Learning Support team. This is a new post to enable us to meet the needs of our EAL pupils and provide targeted support for our SEND pupils.

The successful candidate will:

  • Plan and deliver interventions using the Learning Village platform and other resources for small groups of our EAL and SEND pupils.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to pre-teach key vocabulary and adapt resources to enable the pupils to access lessons.
  • Provide additional support in class
  • Supervise after-school homework support for some of our EAL and SEND pupils
  • Develop positive partnerships with parents to promote parental involvement in their child’s education
  • Work closely with the SENDCO to provide administrative and assessment support

We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant with previous experience of supporting young people with EAL and SEND. Training on using Learning Village and further CPD will be provided. 

In addition, you should show in your application that you have these skills and qualities:

  • An excellent practitioner with energy and  initiative 
  • An understanding of the EAL learner experience in school
  • Experience of working with young people to provide bespoke programmes of support.
  • An effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • An ability to be self-motivated and manage time effectively 
  • Enthusiastic, dedicated and reliable with an understanding of your professional responsibilities.

 The post holder will work 8:30am - 4:00pm Monday- Friday during term time plus INSET days. The salary above will therefore be reduced to reflect the part time, part year nature of the role. The point on the scale at which the post holder will be paid will depend on previous experience. There may be the possibility of additional hours during the school holidays to provide support to the SENDCO for the right candidate. This would be discussed with the successful candidate on appointment.
