SEND Support Worker

Required as soon as possible

Grade 6 SCP 11-19 (£25,979 - £29,777 pro rata)

35 hours a week - term time plus INSET days

Hutton Church of England Grammar School is looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic SEND Support Worker to join our Learning Support team. The successful candidate will plan and deliver programmes for individuals and small groups, based on their EHCPs and specialist teacher advice, in the following:

  •  Social communication and interaction skills

  •  Emotional literacy  and social scripts

  • Emotional regulation and anger management

The role also includes: 

  • Working closely with the SENDCO to provide administrative support and complete pupil profiles 

  • Liaising with specialist teachers to plan and develop the programmes of support 

We are looking for a dedicated individual with previous experience of supporting young people with ASC, ADHD and SEMH needs. An ELSA qualification would be an advantage but CPD will be provided. 

In addition, you should show in your application that you have these skills and qualities:

  • An excellent practitioner with energy and initiative 

  • Experience of working with young people to provide personalised programmes of SEMH support

  • A calm, patient and encouraging manner

  • Confident in supporting vulnerable pupils

  • An effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills and able to work effectively as part of a team.

  • An ability to be self-motivated and manage time effectively 

  • Enthusiastic, dedicated and reliable with an understanding of your professional responsibilities.

  • Ability to show initiative and problem solving skills.

The post holder will work 8:30am - 4:00pm Monday- Friday during term time plus INSET days. The salary above will therefore be reduced to reflect the part time, part year nature of the role. The point on the scale at which the post holder will be paid will depend on previous experience. There may be the possibility of additional hours during the school holidays to provide support to the SENDCO for the right candidate. This would be discussed with the successful candidate on appointment.

Behaviour and Inclusion Lead

We are looking to appoint an Inclusion Manager to help support our students to overcome challenges which affect their attitude to learning, behaviour and attendance.

The post holder will be based in our referral room to supervise and work with students who have been removed from lessons. Their work will focus on supporting students to complete work during their period of exclusion, re-integrate them into the classroom on their return and implement action plans to improve their attitude to learning. The post holder will also work closely with students and their families to support whole school initiatives to promote and sustain good attendance.

We are looking for someone who has a professional and approachable manner, strong administrative and organisational skills and good awareness of how to ensure and promote the safeguarding and well-being of students. The ability to engage and communicate well with a variety of students and their families, sometimes in challenging circumstances, is an essential requirement for the role.

Candidates will have at least grade C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics at GCSE and will have previous experience of working in education. Experience of using SIMS or Synergy would be an advantage but is not an essential requirement.

The successful candidate will be required to work 30 hours a week, Monday-Friday during term time plus INSET days. They will be paid on Grade 6 (SCP 11-19). Previous experience will be taken into account when determining the appropriate point on the scale. The salary above will be reduced to reflect the part time, part year nature of the role.
