Teacher of Design Technology

Required for 1st September 2023

We are seeking to appoint a talented, passionate and skilled Teacher of Design Technology to join a successful and experienced department in our Church of England 11-18 comprehensive school.

Hutton is a regularly oversubscribed single sex boys school from 11-16 with 737 students currently on roll. The Sixth Form is co-educational from 16-18 with 149 students currently on roll. The school was judged ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted in May 2022 and ‘Outstanding’ in all areas by SIAMS in February 2018.

Technology is a popular subject at Hutton, and we are looking for a teacher who can use their skills, knowledge and experience to inspire, encourage and motivate our students to achieve their potential.

Our technology curriculum focuses on Resistant Materials, Graphic Products and Food Preparation and Nutrition, with all three subjects offered as GCSE options. We also offer A-level Product Design.

The successful candidate will be required to teach across all secondary Key Stages and will be a specialist in either Graphic Products, Product Design or Resistant Materials, with the ability to teach all subjects. The ability to also teach Food Preparation and Nutrition would be desirable but is not an essential requirement.

There may be opportunity to teach at A Level for suitably experienced candidates. This post would be suitable for experienced or Early Career Teachers.

We are seeking to appoint a talented, passionate and skilled Teacher of Chemistry to join a successful and experienced department in our Church of England 11-18 comprehensive school.

The Science Department is made up of 11 members of staff, including a Subject leader for Science and Chemistry and subject leaders of Biology and Physics. We are a well-resourced department, with 8 fully furnished science laboratories and 1 science classroom. We are supported by 2 technicians and a specialist Science teaching assistant.

Our success can be credited to our hard-working students, supportive parents and committed and dedicated staff both within the Science Department and school as a whole.

Science is taught up to Key Stage 5 in Chemistry, Physics and Biology with teachers teaching within their subject specialisms in the majority of cases. We follow the AQA specification with a large percentage of students being given the opportunity to study Separate Science at Key Stage 4. Many of our students chose to continue their studies to A Level standard at Hutton and we are well equipped to meet the demands of the new required practical tasks.

We are looking for a teacher who can use their skills and knowledge to motivate, support and inspire our students to achieve their full potential. The post holder will be required to teach across all secondary Key Stages, including A Level Chemistry. This post would be suitable for Early Career Teachers.
